Tenseiga's Time Limit Explained
Sesshoumaru noticed Rin getting attacked by wolves immediately in InuYasha Manga Chapter 130 -
Tumblr media
In Chapter 131 - He even scared off the wolves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the anime version, the wolves and scene where Sesshoumaru scares them off were removed. But its still daytime in a shrowded forest. Based on the time of the attack: This means Rin was revived very shortly after her death. In InuYasha Manga Chapter 126 and InuYasha Episode 143 - 3000 Leagues in Search of Father Kanta says his Father's Head was cut off three days ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
InuYasha Explains that demons don't die so easily which is why their bodies still move after their heads being cut off, and if Kanta's father's head was rejoined to the body, he can be resurrected. We know that by the time they caught up with the body, it died entirely.
Tumblr media
Sesshoumaru became the one to resurrect him with Tessaiga immediately after the body died.
Tumblr media
This is a key piece of information in regards to Tenseiga - It depends on whose being resurrected rather than the sword itself. In Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon Episode 25 -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toutousai says that he would be able to repair the broken Tenseiga in order to revive Setsuna in three days, Jaken says by three days it would be too late. That Setsuna needs to be revived within the next hour - The same amount of time frame when Sesshoumaru revived Rin. This is because Setsuna is a half-demon and can't survive the same amount of time the way a demons body can, even without its head. Embark
For @crescent-dreams' Fandom Creation Night (April 2024).
Summary: All Kanna wants is to see her Papa's smile, but he keeps going on playdates with people who don't want to play with her. Hopefully, the dark-haired woman with the pretty eyes will be different.
Read on Ao3 and FFnet.
Sneak Peek
Flight
Kanna sighed as Papa's shoulders slumped again, a frown forming between his eyebrows as he ended the phone call. She'd grown accustomed to reading his facial expressions, though she didn't understand why he put up with so many people who made him mad.
She wished she could remember what he was like when her parents were still around. She'd long since started referring to Sesshoumaru as her father; it was just easier that way, for both of them. It wasn't hard to convince others they were father and daughter; they both had pale blonde hair, liked to keep their clothes clean, and didn't express themselves openly. But it had been years since she'd seen him smile—really smile.
Mama and Daddy had gone on a mini vacation, opting to fly instead of take the train. They'd wanted to take Kanna with them, but school had started, and they couldn't afford to go during peak times. Uncle Sesshoumaru had offered to look after her, telling Mama to enjoy herself and to bring Kanna back a new sibling. Kanna had asked which stores babies came from and if she could choose the type herself, causing her mother to turn as red as her eyes.
They'd all laughed, leaving Kanna to think she'd missed out on a good joke. Mama had patted her head, telling her even she didn't get to pick what kind of sibling she'd get, but they'd work on getting her one soon. Uncle had held her close at the airport, both waving until they couldn't see the plane anymore.
It wasn't until the next day that Uncle received the first phone call that made him sad, body tensing as the person on the other end informed him Mama and Daddy's flight hadn't landed properly. They were both sad for a long time, sleeping in the same bed until she stopped crying at night.
Uncle had never cried, but Kanna had held onto his neck as she reminded him that he still had someone who loved him. He'd been against her calling her Papa, but Kanna had merely shrugged, telling her that Mama and Daddy had loved her most, and Uncle loved her second, so why shouldn't she call him that?
Daddy was Daddy. Papa was Papa. She knew the difference.
Papa had hugged her after that, but he was still frowning. He claimed it was a happy frown, but Kanna was sure he was lying. Who frowned when they were happy?

Andy I am so curious who were your tween fictional crushes? from a show or book or whatever?
Oh my god lmao I love this question.
My fattest crush of all time was easily Jesse de Silva, the ghost romantic interest from Meg Cabot's Mediator series lmao. The way he was always calling Suze querida and watching her fondly but concernedly and haunting her bedroom with his washboard abs was absolutely foundational for me. And it has definitely informed how I write love interests now. I must have checked that series out of the library like at least a dozen times.
I definitely also worshipped the ground Prince Po from the Graceling series walked on. He was so kind and good and pretty and adjgasjdhskflhjkl. Probably he was the precursor to Shouto for me, just like a genuinely beautiful and good-to-his-bones type of character.
Ummm I also loved Orlando Bloom as Legolas although I was late to the game because I didn't see Lord of the Rings until like years after it came out (I was a toddler when the movies were initially coming out :/). But yeah I was a huge Orlando Bloom girlie in general.
And then lastly I loved Itachi from Naruto and Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha when I eventually found anime lmaooo. I love a nice good "evil" older brother. 😌💕
Lmao looking at this now, this is like the most embarrassing snapshot of my psyche lol. Definitely explains a lot of the anime man crushes I have rn. Omg but you have to tell me too who yours were???

December Drabbles Day 18 - Liquid Courage
Read on AO3.
Banner fan art by the amazing @sayuri-liu
Tumblr media
For @shortfry. Thank you for being amazing and for sharing your talent with us! You're such a wonderful person! Hope you have peaceful end of the year. 💙💙
For the 12 Days of Promptmas, Day 5: Warm Sake.
Day 18 - Liquid Courage
Inuyasha was not stupid. He knew that plenty of people might vehemently disagree with that statement — and his insufferable ass of a brother would be the first in line to do so. But he had seen the stolen glances. The smiles he couldn’t quite smother when she wasn’t looking. He’d seen the way the impenetrable amber of his brother’s eyes had grown warm and soft.
Hell, he couldn’t blame him. Inuyasha brooded into the cup in his hands, then raised it to his lips. The warm sake soothed him as he swallowed, filling him with glowing heat. And a sense of purpose.
Sesshoumaru had been clueless enough not to pursue his interest. Sure, he was a jerk. But Inuyasha wouldn’t mind giving him a helpful shove to move things along. After all, if there was one person on the planet who could soften the sharp edges of any jerk, it was Kagome. And Inuyasha was the living and breathing example of her influence.
It was about time to return the favour, anyway. He owed her too much. Out of all of them, she had probably sacrificed the most. She deserved all the happiness she could get. Inuyasha would guarantee it.
Inuyasha levered himself up. Swayed just a little before he swaggered towards his goal. He swiped another cup and a new bottle of warmed sake on his way to his brother.
He loomed at the edge of the village, looking on at the merriment of the winter festival. Always keeping himself apart, the idiot. But his gaze was tracking Kagome, as she laughed and danced and chatted with everyone. The heart of the party, as she so often was.
Inuyasha shoved the cup into his brother’s hand, then poured it full before topping up his own.
He arched his stupid snobby eyebrow at him but made no remarks. Silently, Sesshoumaru sipped his sake .
Inuyasha took one last gulp of liquid courage before embarking on his mission.
“You’re an idiot,” he informed his brother.
Sesshoumaru paused, the cup hovering near his lips. “That is rather an alarming assessment, coming from you.”
Inuyasha ignored his hoity-toity insults. “You need to do something about it.”
“About what, exactly?”
“Kagome.”
Sesshoumaru’s claws clinked against the cup as his grip tightened. Abruptly, he was standing straighter and stiffer next to him, as if someone had just shoved that pole up his ass deeper in. His usually cool amber eyes were wide with surprise. Then, he quickly looked away.
“I do not know what you are implying,” he replied, his voice carefully neutral.
Inuyasha snorted his sake . The bastard was blushing!
“Don’t give me that evasive shit. I’ve seen the way you stare at her.”
Sesshoumaru drank his sake . Clearly avoiding answering him. Keh!
“There should be less staring and more doing ,” Inuyasha advised him. “She’s worth the effort.”
The amber eyes flashed. “I am aware of her worth,” Sesshoumaru snapped.
Inuyasha blinked. Well. That was interesting. He grabbed the bottle and poured Sesshoumaru another cup. “Then what’s the hold-up?”
Sesshoumaru shook his head and frowned at his drink. “I am not sure how... That is, I have never... What if she does not... What if we do not suit?”
Inuyasha’s mind boggled, as he tried to both make sense out of his brother’s stammered fragments and understand what such a fumbling response revealed. Inuyasha heaved a sigh. This was a bigger mess than he could’ve imagined. He‘d meant to give his brother’s ass a good encouraging kick, not hold his hand and pat him on the back.
“Listen,” he said gruffly. “If I didn’t think you’d be good for her, I wouldn’t be here telling you to go get the girl.”
Sesshoumaru’s expression remained dubious.
Inuyasha heroically resisted the urge to smack his brother’s head. “Also, I’m not here for you .” Well, maybe he was, a little bit. But he’d never admit that, least of all to him . “I’m doing this for her. Because I think she’s interested.”
Oh, he had his attention now. The mask had slipped and the raw mixture of hope and longing on his brother’s face was both unsettling and deeply reassuring. He was doing the right thing.
“Truly?” Sesshoumaru asked, lowering his cup.
Inuyasha grinned. And patted his brother on the shoulder. “Go get the girl, you idiot.”
He watched Sesshoumaru go. Pause at the table where the feast had been laid out. Pick up a bowl and carefully peruse the food on offer, before collecting the choicest bits into the bowl. And then carry his offering to Kagome.
Inuyasha shook his head. Maybe he should have another talk with his brother at some point and explain to him the differences between youkai and human courting rituals.
Across the village, Kagome took the bowl and gave Sesshoumaru a brilliant smile.
Or maybe the two of them would be fine, after all. They’d figure it out.

Sorry for the delay, but I have the first chapter here. Forgot to mention the tags for this story so here they are:
Light Angst, sad themes, self-destructive tendencies, depression, symptoms of depression, happy ending.
Prologue link at the end of this post.
Tumblr media
Chapter 1.
Anticipation and the reality of it.
Friday passed quickly and it was already Saturday. Kagome was looking forward to Sesshomaru's call for her first date. She was very excited to hear from him and see him again. His last text was Friday night to tell her how much he liked her and how excited he was about this date.
Kagome could barely sleep from the excitement. It was noon and she didn't receive any message from Sesshomaru. Kagome thought that perhaps he was busy and it was more likely that she would see him at the agreed restaurant at the appointed time.
It was two in the afternoon and she still hadn't received any messages from him. Despite having a bad feeling, she decided to get ready for the date, thinking that it was her nerves that made her think things that were not true.
She dressed in a black mini dress with short bell sleeves. Small bow earrings with pendants with different mini figures and open block heeled shoes with a heart in the center of a bow. Tied to her ankle with small chains with different shapes. And what she expected would be a good simple makeup and that would enhance her eyes. Nothing ostentatious because she liked to be as natural as possible.
Tumblr media
She checked her cell phone. Three thirty in the afternoon, her reservation was at four fifteen in the afternoon. She had enough time to get to the restaurant without delay. There are no messages from him yet. She touched her mobile against her lips as she thought. What could have happened? Everything was fine yesterday. The feeling that something was wrong returned to her, but as before, she ignored it. He was probably busy and would go directly to the restaurant.
She called a Yuber and waited for it in the dorms building lobby. When it arrived she received a message confirming its arrival and Kagome left the building to get into it. After verifying that it was indeed the Yuber that she had requested and having taken a photo of its license plate, the car and the driver, she sent the information to her friend. When her friend confirmed that she received the information, Kagome got into the Yuber and headed for her destination.
You’re probably wondering, and why would Kagome do all that? Well, it never hurts to be cautious when you're a woman.
When she arrived at the restaurant, Kagome noted that she had just a bit of time to get inside. She thanked the driver and got out of the car. She checked her cell phone again and noted that there were still five minutes left until her reservation. She nervously, walked to the entrance and opened the door. She walked to the maĂŽtre d' station which she verified her reservation and guided her to her table. Kagome thanked her once she was seated and after only asking for water, she waited for Sesshomaru.
"4:30 pm. and he still hasn't arrived ”. Kagome checked her cell phone. No missed calls or messages from him. She called the waiter over to her table and asked him if anyone had called and left a message for her. To which the waiter asked her name and told her that he would go ask and let her know. Kagome watched the waiter approach the maître d' and talk to her. The maître d' shook her head as she spoke. Kagome shrugged and ducked her head in embarrassment The waiter came back and informed her that no one had called or left a message for her but he gave her name to the maître d' so if someone called and left a message for her they would let her know right away. Kagome nodded and thanked the waiter and asked for another glass of water. She took her cell phone and texted Sesshomaru.
Sesshoumaru ❤️:
>>> Hello Sesshoumaru. I’ve been waiting in the restaurant for a while. Did something happened?
[Sent at 4:38 PM]
It was five in the afternoon and Sesshomaru still hadn't arrived at the restaurant. Kagome texted him again.
Sesshoumaru ❤️:
>>> Me again. I just wanted you to know that I'll wait a little longer. I hope you're well and nothing bad happened.
[Sent at 5:01 PM]
The waiter approached Kagome to ask if she would like the menu or any drinks. Kagome ordered a Mocktail called the “Mango Mule”. If I'm going to wait a little longer, at least I'll enjoy the wait. She told herself as she waited for her drink.
~~~•~~~~•~~~•~~~~•~~~•~~~~
The maĂŽtre d' watched Kagome with a bit of pity. Apparently the poor girl had been stood up on her date. She loved her job, and the only thing she didn't like was watching scenes like these. The waiter assigned to her table approached the maĂŽtre d' to ask what he should do in that situation. Rush hour was approaching and diners with reservations would begin to arrive. To which she only replied that they would wait a little longer and when they really needed her table, they would ask for it.
~~~•~~~~•~~~•~~~~•~~~•~~~~
Kagome surreptitiously wiped a tear from her cheek and sent one last message.
Sesshoumaru ❤️:
>>> I should have known better.
Thank you for the pleasant time I had on Thursday night. Wish you all the best.
[Sent at 7:30 PM]
She spoke to the waiter and asked for the bill. To which the waiter told her that it was on the house. Kagome nodded and thanked him. At least something good came out of this. She got up from her seat, thanked the waiter, and left the restaurant. She boarded one of the taxis waiting outside and headed back to the university dorms.
She opened her dorm door and walked inside, falling back onto her bed. What a day she'd had. She stared at the ceiling for several minutes without thinking about anything. Then, she sat on her bed, unlaced her shoes and took them off. She proceeded to remove her earrings and put them away in her small jewelry box. She took off her dress and changed into a cotton pajama set consisting of a strappy top and short shorts, both in burgundy and trimmed with white lace. She liked to sleep comfortably, sue her if you want. She hung her dress in her closet and headed to the bathroom to remove her makeup and proceed with her skincare routine. All of this was done on autopilot, by instinct.
When she had finished brushing his teeth and turned off the bathroom light, his cell phone rang with the notification of an incoming message and Kagome ran to the nightstand where she had put it to charge. She unplugged it from the charger and took it in her hand to unlock it, sitting up on the bed to see the message.
Yes, despite the "date" fiasco she still hoped it was Sesshomaru explaining why he didn’t arrived at the restaurant. What could she do? She was already in love with him. She fell in love and fell hard.
Ayame 😝:
<<< Are you back yet? How did it go? Tell me everything!!!
[Received at 9:05 p.m.]
Kagome's expression went from one of hope to one of sadness in less than five seconds. She texted her friend and received an almost immediate response.
Ayame 😝:
<<< It's alright, Kags. Call me when you want to talk. I'll be here to listen to you. I love you so much my friend.🥰😘
[Received at 9:08 p.m.]
Kagome fell back onto the bed again with her arms spread out to her sides. Her cell phone forgotten at her side.
What had she done wrong? Why didn't Sesshomaru show up for their date? Why did he stood her up? With her eyes closed, her mind replayed the memories of Thursday night. From the moment she walked into the room that turned out to be a library, to the last moment they spent together. Over, and over, and over again without ceasing. The texts that they sent to each other didn’t indicate that there was any problem on his part.
The next morning Kagome didn't feel like getting out of bed. She knew that she should go to work but she couldn't. She just couldn't go. She sat on her bed and sent a short text message to her boss telling her that she was sick and she wouldn't be showing up for work that day. She had never lied to her boss before, so her boss believed her, sending her a “get well soon so you can come back as soon as possible” message. And one, "see you on Thursday, usual time."
She flopped on her side on her bed, her phone in her hands, watching videos on Metube until she fell asleep again.
TBC.

( I have a thought that Sesshoumaru must have met Inuyasha once or twice prior to his appearance in the manga/anime—and it wasn't very pretty. )
The first time he met his half-brother, it was when Izayoi was alive. He observed them out of sight, unwilling to go against the memory of his father at the time, and he was above slaughtering a broken family already destined for failure. The thought occurred to him, but he was much too prideful to ask Izayoi about his father's tomb, either.
The second time came months after Izayoi's passing, watching youkai attack and humans chase away his younger half-brother. Inuyasha had noticed him, immediately wary of his presence but oddly recognizing him as his brother. Sesshoumaru hadn't realized his father had spoke of him to Izayoi, then Izayoi would inform Inuyasha, as if his blood relatives would look after a halfbreed. Sesshoumaru had brutally taught him a lesson, but chose not to kill him just yet. To do so would have been a mercy.
I'm a bit more conflicted about this idea but I imagine Inuyasha almost began to befriend someone. This someone just happened to be in Sesshoumaru's path at the wrong time and was slain right before their eyes. Of course, Sesshoumaru, being the jerk he is, claims that it was Inuyasha's fault, simply because he was associated with them, that he wasn't strong enough to do anything about it.
That's the last time Inuyasha had seen Sesshoumaru up until the manga. It's also how Inuyasha remembered his name.

Unoriginal crossover head canon: The characters of Ranma 1/2 are descendants of Inu Yasha characters.
Inu Yasha & Kagome --- Ranma Saotome (through his mother's side cuz FUCK GENMA!)
Kouga & Ayame --- Ryouga Hibiki (still got fangs after all these generations?)
Myouga-- Happosai (shows up randomly, does something irritating, also has important information)
Sesshoumaru & Rin -- the Kuno family (wealthy, full of themselves, eccentric)
Sango & Miroku--- Ukyou Kuonji (Hisui's line) and the Tendo family (Kinu &/or Gyokuto)
Shippo --- not sure....
I am open to hearing other connections between other characters in these fandoms!

CHAR! I'm chasing you down here because the comments are closed on your blog. XD But Absolution....I love it. And the part where Sesshoumaru gets his mother to give him the information he wants when she doesn't want to. KILLED MY MAMA HEART. Anyone's son does that to them? Biggest "dammit" moment ever. Of course he's getting what he wants.
LOL had to share. Love ya! <3
Aww thank you, Dross!! Warms my heart to know how much you’ve enjoyed the story and that scene in particular 🥰 And since we’re on the subject of mother-son dynamics, can I just say that your fic Precious destroys me in the BEST way??! UGH the feels 😭 It’s the backstory to Sess!Family I’ve always craved ❣
Can’t tell you how stoked I am to get back to working on Absolution!! That fic really holds a special place in my heart 😊 After I finish up The Pact/The Bond, Absolution is the next on my list to complete!
Thanks so much again for the lovely message, dear friend! Love ya too!! 💕💕💕

I’m writing an epic Inuyasha fanfiction about Sesshoumaru’s childhood
Titled ‘Memories of Days Gone By’ on AO3
I haven’t added a lot of tags, mainly because I don’t want to spoil or misrepresent anything from the story... but it also means that people won’t find it...
I started writing this when I was 11, wrote some 50-something chapters then gave up... Now I’m rewriting it twenty years later, hoping that someone would be interested.
Short summary:
The year is 1206 and Sesshoumaru is a teenager in his rebellious phase. Soon, unforeseen circumstances force him to embark on a long journey, during which he becomes the coldhearted demon we know today.
It’s very plot-heavy, and there are secrets and hidden information that is not explained, but can be deduced if one pays attention. There are a few original characters, but everything is centered around Sesshoumaru. There is no shipping, although there are romantic elements.
As it’s about Sesshoumaru as a teenager, none of the OG characters will make an appearance, except for Inutaisho, Sesshoumaru’s mother and Inuyasha (mentioned). Needless to say it will not be Yashahime compliant. It is mostly compliant to the original canon, with some details changed to add more depth to the story.
aka. what if Sesshoumaru was a bit more complex than ‘demon warrior who wants to be the best and doesn’t talk’

WINTER'S ARRIVAL, FOLLOWED by a cold embrace. nearly void of life, left wake of a white barren wasteland. save for the few signs of life, the feathered companions of night would sing their hauntingly chilly tune. like an echo. only to be disrupted by the oh-so familiar prattling of an imp. always with the incessant shrieks and complaints. " jaken. " a voice as cold as the evening, almost like a warning.

Good Night
Happy Happy Birthday @acb6293! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Summary: Forced back to her own time and into a sedentary lifestyle had left her bored and wanting, and while she hadn't expected to jump back into battle mode the moment she got back, it wasn't long before she was itching for the chance to travel. Enter Sesshoumaru.
Read it on Ao3 an FFnet
Sneak Peek
Kagome smiled softly as she tucked Rin and Shippou into bed. They'd fallen asleep holding hands, and while she knew she'd have to repeat the second half of the book she'd been reading tomorrow, the sight calmed her heart like nothing else could.
After returning to the feudal era, the last thing she'd expected was for Inuyasha to want to settle down. He hadn't wanted to settle down with her, he'd just grown tired of travelling every day. She couldn't blame him; he'd never had a place to come home to, and now that things had calmed down, so had his wanderlust.
Not so for her.
Forced back to her own time and into a sedentary lifestyle had left her bored and wanting, and while she hadn't expected to jump back into battle mode, it wasn't long before she was itching for the chance to travel.
Enter Sesshoumaru.
She'd already planned to gather herbs for Kaede in the neighbouring village, offering to take Rin with her for company, so when the Western Lord showed up on the morning they were set to leave, she'd thought it would be a simple goodbye. Instead, Rin had enthusiastically informed him of their plans, and the next thing Kagome knew, the young teen had convinced her stoic father figure to join them.

Sesskagu + Detective/Forgotten First Meeting AUs
From the Fanfiction Trope Mashup ask game
"You're a long way from home, detective," a deep feminine voice purred, slightly textured through the sack over his head. "What happened? Lost your way?"
Sesshoumaru said nothing, letting his head remain drooping from his shoulder as he kept his body still and tried to get a sense of his bearings. The cloying scent of blood, unwashed bodies, and the deep deep burn of turpentine and miasma filled his lungs. He was seated, his arms tied together by his wrists behind his back, and his ankles secured similarly to the legs of the chair he was sitting on.
His investigations into a new destructive drug that left users comatose by the next morning had led him to an industrial space deep in forests at the foot of the cold mountains of Hokkaido.
And a misstep had led him here. Tied up with an unknown woman in front of him.
He cursed inwardly. It was a rookie mistake; going into unknown territories without backup or informing his partners. Inuyasha will never let him live this down after this.
He froze as a finger trailed up his neck. Long nails raked lightly across his skin. He breathed, but discerned no scent from it even at the proximity.
The finger stopped at his chin, and long slender fingers gripped his jaw through the rough fabric.
“I know you’re awake, dog.” A soft laugh. “I felt your breathing change in the drag of the wind.”
The wind?
He scoffed, giving up all attempt at pretending to be unconscious and straightening his back. Who was this, and why was her scent elusive? He tugged gently at the ropes on his wrists. Nylon, about half an inch thick. He scoffed.
They thought to restrain him with only this? The woman will be dead before she knows--
“Good. We can stop playing.” A screech of metal as his captor stood up before him, letting her chair drag behind her.
Someone pulled the sack off of his head.
Finally.
Sesshoumaru squinted against the light, the stink of the old fabric over his head had stifled so much of his smell that its removal felt overwhelming. He took a deep breath and--
He froze, gaping.
This scent...
This scent...!
The woman before him leaned forwards in her seat until she rested an elbow on her knee, smirking at him as he held the air in his lungs, finding himself terrified.
Terrified that if he breathed this air out, he would never catch this same scent again.
The wind...
Deep rubious eyes, dark red painted lips that contrasted with her pale skin. The same insufferable smirk that plagued his dreams over again and again. The same scent of the wind, of the storms, of coldness, of thunder, and of rain that he had for years worked so hard to forget.
No. A hallucination. A dream. Had he been drugged? Or--
She gripped his jaw again, tightly, her nails digging into his skin hard enough to draw blood. “Hmm, I didn’t notice it too much before, but you’ve got a fine face, haven’t you?” She sniffed, smiling. “Pity.”
Hadn’t she also said something to that effect? When they’d first met? Back when they were still children and thought the world belonged to them?
His throat had gone dry, but he had to know.
“Are you real?” He whispered, fists clenched so tightly his bonds could have come undone from that alone.
She cocked her head, raising a brow at him. “..the fuck are you talking about? Did I hit your head too hard? Aren’t you detective types supposed to be of the strongest bloodlines? I guess not, then!” She laughed again and his heart jumped.
In his dreams, she would never answer. Not once in the five years he grieved. She was real. This was real.
He could only gape. Shocked beyond his senses.
“Kagura..I--”
Her eyes widened at hearing him speak, and she drew back in surprise. “How do you know that name?” She blinked, then pressed closer, a growl to her voice and her grip tightened. “Who the fuck are you?”
Your husband. Your husband, Kagura.
He said nothing, staring into her eyes. Those same deep red pools that he had yearned to see again. He whispered, “you were gone.”
She blinked again, frowning in confusion. A heartbeat passed before she growled again. “Speak up!”
You died. In my arms, drowning in your own blood with a blade through your heart. I'd almost killed the doctor who pronounced you dead. I'd almost killed--
He blinked. That was right. His wife was dead. This wasn’t his wife.
This wasn’t Kagura.
As much as he wanted it to be, this wasn’t her. It could not be.
The blood roared in his ears and he felt the burn of his scleras as they bled red.
A single twist of his wrists and his bonds broke free. The woman wearing his wife’s body gave a yelp of surprise as he pulled the steel legs of the chair from the ropes at his ankles. To her merit, she did neither cowering nor whimpering, as most are wont to do when he was in this state.
No matter. This wasn’t her. She’s gone, and he had long since accepted that. Should have long since accepted that.
Fool he.
The same slender fingers gripping his jaw earlier now clawed haphazardly at his own as he sunk them in around her neck. He pushed her to the wall, flaring his youki and letting his fangs elongate in his mouth as he snarled.
“Who the fuck are you and what did you do with my wife?”

Sorry this took a while!!! tbh I can’t really see either of them as detectives. They’re just too chaotic/stupid and none of them are law-abiding people, imo! But I’m lowkey into this AU now 😢😢😢😢😢
Thanks for sending in an ask, anon!

Day 14 - All Downhill from Here
The skiing instructor was perky and pink . Sesshoumaru wasn’t sure what to make of her and a part of him felt dubious. Especially of those bright pink pompoms of her hat, that matched the chunky-knit muffler wrapped three times around her neck. But the steady stream of cheerful chatter was taking his mind off from that nervous and peeved part that glowered in a dark corner of his brain.
Sesshoumaru hated learning new things. Or to be precise, he hated that awkward initial phase of learning something new; the part where he felt like a clueless, bumbling idiot. What he wanted was to excel  but alas, to get to that point some bumbling around had to be endured.
Whatever could be said about his bubbly bubble-gum skiing instructor, she seemed to know her stuff. She’d guided him through getting the rental equipment and putting on the stiff and weird ski shoes. She’d given him an overview of the slopes. And dispensed such a wealth of tips and tricks on him that Sesshoumaru wasn’t able to remember them all.
And now they were standing on the top of the trainer slope, which looked like an anthill compared to the other ones. Sesshoumaru was starting to get nervous again.
"We're gonna practise the snowplough for a while," the skiing instructor told him with a bright smile. "Then we're going down all nice and easy and slow . We'll take all the time you need. And we're not going down until you're comfortable enough to try. Safety first, ok?"
Sesshomaru nodded, and the tightness in his throat eased, his shoulders relaxed the tiniest fraction at his instructor's reassurance.
"Great! I'll show you the snowplough now. It’s very simple."
Sesshoumaru watched raptly as the skiing instructor demonstrated the funny-looking pose.
"Now, your turn to try it out! Tails out, noses together. Make sure to leave a gap between your skis, though!"
Sesshoumaru tried to manoeuvre his skis into the right position. They still felt weird on his feet.
But his skiing instructor kept coaxing, encouraging and advising him. Gradually, his nervousness and awkwardness slipped away.
"I'm ready now," he informed her after a while.
"Great!" The instructor chirped. "Let's go down the hill! Remember to shift your weight to turn. And I'll be right behind you, so if you fall, I'll help you right back up."
That comment finally elicited an answering smile from Sesshoumaru. "All right. I'll be in your care."
What scattered crumbs of his nerves were left morphed into exhilaration as he made his way down the much too short slope. He might have been slow and his turns awkward, but the slide of the skis had been easy and smooth, the cold slap of wind in his face invigorating. At the bottom of the hill, Sesshoumaru turned to his instructor, grinning.
"I want to do that again. And go faster."
"That’s the spirit," she laughed. "Up we go!"
And so, they did.
Sesshoumaru loved every second of it, so much so that he stayed on the slope after his lesson concluded and he and his instructor parted ways.
He was almost reluctant to part with his skis when the time finally came to return them.   The red-haired young man behind the counter accepted the skis and then slid a business card to him.
"Was supposed to give you this," he said and winked.
Sesshoumaru picked up the card. His eyebrow ached at the neat print of his ski instructor's name. Flipping the card over, he saw a handwritten phone number. And there, just underneath it, there was an intriguing addition in a looping scrawl.
"If you need instruction for the after-ski portion of the whole skiing experience, let me know. XO -Kagome"
Sesshoumaru grinned, thanked the young redhead, and pulled out his phone.

What the anti fanbase has taught me today:
-That they can’t accept the fact that Rin was the same age as Sango when she gave birth
-That Sesshoumaru started seeing Rin as a woman only after she grew up
-That they lack any kind of insight and can’t see outside the box unless it’s told to them word by word
-That they lack information related to the series and call Sesshoumaru a deadbeat dad who abandoned his kids even if it was confirmed in the lastest interview with Riku’s voice actor that Sesshoumaru placed Setsuna and Towa in that forest under a barrier to protect them.
Guess that I expected too much from them, even if they are antis.
